The following conversation is from a meeting between Arlene，Barry and Paul，the three partners of Lightsys，a small company whose core business is providing software for business use. The company was established three years ago and grew quickly and steadily after establishment.Now they are talking about how to further the development of the company and what to do to consolidate its market position.
下面是Lightsys企业的三个合作伙伴，艾琳娜、巴里和保罗在一次会议上的谈话。他们的公司以提供商业应用软件为主要业务，三年前成立，持续飞速发展，目前他们商量怎么样推进公司下一步的进步和巩固其市场地方。
A：We have maintained continuous rapid development since the establishment of the firm. That’s an encouragement for all of us，since it is the first time that we do business and we do it quite well.Now，our company is no longer small and we have nearly twice more working staff than we have just established，so I think it is very necessary for us to think about the future of our company and what we should do to keep the company develop.
A：自从公司创建以来，大家就维持持续迅速的增长。这对大家三个人来讲可真是个鼓励啊，毕竟大家之前都没做过买卖，而大家却做得很好。目前，大家公司已经不小了，大家的职员数目是刚成立时的两倍，所以我觉得大家有必要想想大家企业的将来，与大家该如何做维持企业的进步。
B：I totally agree. We have to reevaluate our way of management according to the current situation and get rid of the inappropriate measures.
B：我完全赞同。大家应该依据目前的状况来重新评价大家的管理方法，去除那些不适合的方法办法。
C：Well，the first thing we can do is to review our plan. We planned three years ago that in five years，the company should develop into a middle size one with about fifty people，but now it has already had more than fifty people.We can say that we have achieved our shortterm goal ahead of time.We can make our next shortterm plan now，say for next three years or so.
C：嗯，大家第一要做的就是重新审视大家原先的计划。三年前，大家计划五年内公司进步到中型规模，大约有50名职员，而大家目前已经有50名职员了。可以说，大家提前完成了大家的短期目的。大家目前可以拟定下一个短期计划了，比如为下个三年等等。
B：You are right. What’s your suggestion about our next shortterm plan?
B：你说得对。你对下个短期计划有哪些建议想法了吗?
C：Let’s set our next goal to be one of the TOP 100 companies in our country，ok?
C：大家把大家的下个目的定为成为全国前100强公司之一，如何?
A：That’s really an ambitious and challenging shortterm goal!How long do you plan to achieve this goal?
A：真是个有雄心又充满挑战的短期目的!你计划多长时间达成这个目的?
C：about five years. I am a little conservative in making this time limit.I have confidence that we can achieve that ahead of time too if we keep on developing at a speed like this.
C：大约五年。在定这个时间限的时候，我觉得自己有点守旧。假如大家维持现在的进步速度，我有信心大家肯定能提前达到目的。
A：Arlene，could you work out a more detailed timetable for our next fiveyear plan?And then we can discuss about it in detail and circulate our final timetable among our staff.
A：艾琳娜，你能拟定出一个比较细致的下五年计划的时间表吗?然后大家再讨论计划的细节，之后在大家的职员中传阅讨论。
C：Fine.
C：好。
B：In my opinion，we also need to improve our way of organization，to make our organization more efficient.

A：Do you mean to identify the specific responsibility of everybody in the company?
A：你是说明确公司里每一个人的责任?
B：Exactly. Besides，I strongly hold that our business needs to be streamlined in some way.
B：一点没错。此外，我坚持觉得大家业务应该在一些方面变得愈加精简才行。
A：So，could you take care of that and prepare a paper about the responsibility of everybody?And we will also discuss that together at our next meeting.

B：No problem.

A：We have lots of homework to do this time.When shall we meet next time?
